The Grapes of Wrath
The Grapes of Wrath is an American realist novel written by John Steinbeck and published in 1939. As a result, he won the annual National Book Award and Pulitzer Prize for novels and it was cited prominently when he won the Nobel Prize in 1962.
Set during the Great Depression, the novel focuses on the Joads, a poor family of tenant farmers driven from their Oklahoma home by drought, economic hardship, and changes in the agricultural industry forcing tenant farmers out of work. Due to their nearly hopeless situation, and in part because they were trapped in the Dust Bowl, the Joads set out for California. Along with thousands of other “Okies”, they sought jobs, land, dignity, and a future….http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Grapes_of_Wrath
I created this pair of earrings with an image of a Vintage typewriter with a line from “The Grapes of Wrath” on it’s paper, an image of John Steinbeck’s book “The Grapes of Wrath” and an image of Steinbeck on laminated photo paper, layered with chipboard. The typewriter keys are replicas with images on wood. The earrings are decorated front (1st picture) and back (2nd picture). The length of the earrings from the top of the surgical steel ear wires to the bottom of the longest dangle is 2-3/4″ long.
