Robin Earrings Asymmetrical Woodland conservation American robins eggs nest Trading Card

American Robin
Asymmetrical Earrings

The American Robin (Turdus migratorius), also known as the robin, is a migratory songbird of the thrush family. It is named after the European Robin because of its reddish-orange breast, though the two species are not closely related, with the European robin belonging to the flycatcher family. The American Robin is widely distributed throughout North America, wintering from southern Canada to central Mexico and along the Pacific Coast. It is the state bird of Connecticut, Michigan, and Wisconsin. According to some sources, the American Robin ranks behind only the Red-winged Blackbird as the most abundant, extant land bird in North America….

~~~~I chose an image of a robin’s nest plus a vintage (turn of the century) Arm and Hammer trading card to create this nature themed pair of asymmetrical earrings. The round image of the birds nest is printed on photo paper and sealed under a 1″ round epoxy disc with a silver tone metal bird above the disc and a 12mm round metal charm below the disc. For the second earring I scanned the trading card front and back and shrunk it down to 1-1/4″ by 5/8″, images are laminated and layered with chipboard. Dangling below the trading card is a metal bird and photo image of robin’s eggs. The earrings are finished front (main picture) and back (2nd picture). They dangle from surgical steel ear wires at a length of 3-1/4″.~~~~
