Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease that occurs when your body’s immune system attacks your own tissues and organs. Inflammation caused by lupus can affect many different body systems — including your joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs. Lupus can be difficult to diagnose because its signs and symptoms often mimic those of other ailments. The most distinctive sign of lupus — a facial rash that resembles the wings of a butterfly unfolding across both cheeks — occurs in many but not all cases of lupus.
Some people are born with a tendency toward developing lupus, which may be triggered by infections, certain drugs or even sunlight. While there’s no cure for lupus, treatments can help control symptoms. …http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/lupus/basics/definition/con-20019676
I was diagnosed with Lupus in 2008, I had heard the word ‘lupus’ but didn’t have any idea what was going on with me when I became severely ill. I hope this pair of Designs by Annette asymmetrical earrings will bring awareness to this disease.
I chose a 1-3/4″ wide by 1″ long purple butterfly image and a 1-1/8″ long cure lupus and lupus awareness graphic to create the design. The images are on laminated photo paper layered with chipboard, Images are on both sides…1st picture is the front, 2nd picture is the back. I also incorporated purple glass beads and crystal beads into the design. The length of the earrings is 3-3/4″ long from the top of the surgical steel ear wire to the bottom of the longest dangle.
